Civic Duty Privacy Policy

What we collect

Only these things, and only when you give them to us:

• Email address — for sign-in and account recovery.
• Interests you pick (e.g. Healthcare, Taxes) — to personalize your home feed.
• Party affiliation if you set one — used only in anonymous aggregate (the Tribal Gap Score). Never shown to other users.
• Bill votes (Support / Oppose) you cast — stored against your account so you can see and change them. Totals shown to others are aggregate only.
• Zip code when you look up your district — used to retrieve your representatives.
• Analysis history — which bills you've analyzed and how many this month. Used for your usage display and to enforce the free-tier monthly limit.

Data usage

• We do not sell personal or individually identifiable information.
• We do not run ads or allow third-party ad tracking.
• We may use aggregated, anonymized data for research and analytics purposes.
• You can request deletion of your personal data by emailing help@civicdutyapp.com.

How to request deletion

Email help@civicdutyapp.com from the address on your account and say "delete my data." We erase your profile, interests, party affiliation, votes, analysis history, ratings, and subscription record within 30 days. Aggregate counts that don't identify you (e.g. "47 users supported this bill") may remain in our database.

Payments

Subscription payments are processed by industry-standard payment providers. We do not receive or store your payment card information; we receive only the identifier and tier needed to keep your subscription in sync with your account.

What's stored on your device

Sign-in tokens (so you stay logged in), your last zip code, and a random device ID used to attribute anonymous analysis ratings. Nothing transmits until you act.

Children

The app is rated 4+. There is no advertising, no chat, no public user profiles, and no in-app purchases aimed at children. User input is limited to bill text, your selected interests, an optional display name, and Support / Oppose votes on bills; we do not host open-ended user-to-user content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the bottom.
